Dreama, (like "Dream A Little Dream For Me), came to us because of a happy accident.
I was looking for a quality puppy food, Innova Evo, and it is very hard to find because regular retailers do not carry it in the pet supply stores in our area. Searching the online site, I was directed to a groomer's shop close by. When I went to the shop, Wosie was with me and the woman who was helping me with the food looked at her and asked, "That's a yorkie, right"? When I told her yes, she asked me "Do you know anyone who wants one?" I told her about Yorkietalk.com, took her information, and told her I would post her yorkie online to see if I could help her find a forever home.
When I got home, I told my husband about the yorkie up for adoption, and he said, "Want to go take a look"? WHAT???? REALLY???? I was truly surprised.
I sent an email to the lady hoping she would be able to let us meet Dreama right away. Chrisy the foster mom was very sweet and felt so bad that she couldn't keep her, but she owns a Standard Poodle, and Dreama was very scared of her. Dreama’s first owners were elderly, and shortly after the wife passed away, the husband had a stroke. The foster mom Chrisy was Dreama's groomer, and she did a favor for her client while he was in the hospital for 3 months, and cared for Dreama. When Dreama’s owner got out of the hospital, he realized he could no longer take care of her, and gave Dreama to Chrisy. Chrisy had been fostering her for 8 months, and Dreama just wouldn’t warm up to the big poodle, so Chrisy thought it best to find her another home where Dreama could be happier.
On our way to pick up Dreama, I said to my husband, "Now you know, if you truly want this to be "your dog", you have to be the first person she meets in our family. You have to be the one to give her all the attention on the way home, you have to carry her into our house, you have to make her comfortable, you have to feed her, play with her, groom her, and be the last person she sees at night and the first person she sees in the morning. Do you REALLY want her to be YOUR DOG?" And he said, "OK, you can SHARE her with me!" What a funny guy!
So now we have her!! What an amazing miracle this was!! My husband fell completely in LOVE immediately upon seeing Dreama. He did as I said, and he took her from Chrisy’s arms and petted her and made her comfortable. He introduced Dreama to Wosie, held her on our way home, carried her into our house, and took her outside. He is her care giver and feeds her, grooms her, and plays with her. Dreama adores her Daddy, and they have a very special relationship. She sleeps on his desk when he is working on the computer. She's manic when he comes home, and dances around him on her hind legs until he picks her up. It’s so awesome for Dave, and he is so happy that we have her. We cannot imagine our home without Dreama. Dreama makes our little family complete.
